Carrie Jane Ledom, a dedicated and beloved member of her community, passed away on July 22, 2025, at the University of Kansas Hospital Health System in Kansas City, Kansas. Born on October 6, 1955, in Tuckerman, Arkansas, Carrie was a daughter of Earnest and Ella (Meyers) Callahan.

Carrie’s career as a Manufacturing Supervisor at Peerless Products, Inc. in Ft. Scott, Kansas showcased her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Throughout her life, she carried with her the lessons learned from her childhood, where she spent some time as a young child picking cotton in Arkansas. She later moved to Kansas with her family, where she lived until her death. This upbringing instilled in her the values of perseverance and hard work, which she demonstrated in both her professional and personal endeavors.

On January 31, 1973, she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Mike Ledom Sr. in Ottawa, Kansas. Carrie shared her life with Mike, forging a partnership filled with mutual respect and affection. Together, they raised their daughter, Angela Kendrick and son Michael, who were a source of immense pride for Carrie.

In addition to her career, Carrie enjoyed her hobbies, which included fishing, flower gardening, and going to antique and thrift stores. These pastimes not only provided her with joy but also served as a reflection of her nurturing spirit, appreciation for nature’s beauty, and a good bargain.

Carrie will be remembered for her kindness, tenacity, and the love she poured into her family and friends. Her legacy remains in the hearts of those who knew her and were touched by her warmth and unwavering determination.

Carrie is survived by her husband Mike of Farlington Kansas; daughter Angela and her husband Randy of Olathe; son Michael, his wife Kendra, and two grandchildren, Kaylene and Austin, all of Pittsburg, Kansas. Carrie is survived by her brother Leon Callahan, his wife Pearl and brother-in-law Harry Reeves.

Additional survivors are brothers-in-law, Jack (Robi) Ledom, Gary Ledom, Steve Ledom, Bud Ledom, and Bobby (Galen) Ledom. Sister-in-laws, Georgia (Andy) Miller, Brenda Lefler, Nancy (Lonnie) Miller, Janis (Mike) Bilson, Vicky (Eric) Rolin, Pati Wilson, and Desta Ledom, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carrie is also survived by her beloved dog Muffin.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Ella Callahan and 7 siblings, Barbara Ann Trull, Ina Lee McReynolds, Mary Alice Curtis, Danny Ray Callahan, Roger Callahan, Jerry Wayne Callahan, and Vicki Reeves.

Visitation services will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Dengel & Son Mortuary located at 235 S Hickory St, Ottawa, KS, 66067. A memorial service honoring her life will follow on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM at the same location.

Carrie's memory will live on through the love of her family and the indelible impact she made on the lives she encountered. She will be dearly missed.
