Carol Ann Walburn

Carol Ann Brockus, 60, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026, at Olathe Hospice House.

Carol was born on March 21, 1966, in Ottawa, Kansas, to Dorothy Brockus and Robert Brockus, who preceded her in death. She attended Ottawa schools and proudly graduated with the Ottawa High School Class of 1984. She continued her education at Emporia State University.

On August 16, 1986, Carol married the love of her life, Darrell Walburn, in Ottawa, Kansas. He survives at their home.

Carol will be remembered for her kind heart and deep love for animals, a passion that was well known among her family and friends. She generously gave her time assisting her friend Gina with dog social training classes at Cottonwood Animal Hospital. Throughout her life, she cherished her many beloved pets-Shadow, Scooter, Lacey, Snowy, Goldie, Hershey, Cha-chi, Shayna, Stormy, Shasta, and Cheyenne-whom she lovingly considered her children.

Carol also treasured time spent with her family, especially her nieces, Janelle Brockus and Robin Machol. She enjoyed taking vacations to Branson, Missouri, and Bennett Springs, Missouri, creating lasting memories alongside her dear neighbors and friends, Woody and Barbara Dew.

In addition to her husband, Carol is survived by her brothers Gary Brockus and James Brockus; and her extended family and friends who will miss her deeply.

Carol’s life was marked by compassion, loyalty, and special bond with animals that touched many lives. She will be fondly remembered and forever loved.

A Memorial Visitation will be held 6pm-8pm, Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Dengel and Son Mortuary, 235 South Hickory Street, Ottawa, Kansas. A private family graveside will be held at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.
