Bret A. Clark, a beloved husband, stepfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Louisburg, Kansas, on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the age of 68. His loving family surrounded him as he passed.
Born on June 20, 1957, in Oakland, California, Bret was known for his intelligence, warmth, and deep affection for those around him. He was not afraid to express his emotions, and this openness endeared him to all who knew him.
After completing his education at J.C. Harmon High School in Kansas City, Kansas, Bret dedicated an impressive 36 years of his career to AT&T, formerly known as Southwestern Bell. Working as a telephone technician, he became a well-respected figure in his field and held important roles in the CWA Union, before retiring in 2012.
Bret's passions extended beyond his professional life. A devoted cattle farmer for most of his life, he derived great satisfaction from working on his land. He loved collecting tractors. In addition to his farmland, Bret was an avid scuba diver, frequently visiting Cozumel, Mexico, where he enjoyed the serenity and beauty beneath the waves. His love for nature also manifested in his enjoyment of hunting deer and cutting wood year-round, activities that brought him joy and tranquility. He and his two dogs enjoyed regular rides in the truck to spot deer and other wildlife.
Bret is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Clark; his father, Dr. William (Sally) Clark; step-sons Kolin (Andrea) Anglin and Kerry (Stephanie) Anglin; his sister, Brenda (Patrick) Hoff; and brothers, Dane (William Lai) Clark and David (Sarah) Clark. He was preceded in death by his mother, Twila Clark.
