Brent Fredricks, 60, passed away on October 3, 2026, at The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City, Kansas.
Born on July 3, 1966, the son of Clint and Pat (Swope) Fredricks, Brent lived a life shaped by faith, family, music, and a deep enjoyment of the things he loved most. He stood firmly on his faith, and next to that faith, family held a central place in his heart. He invested in his family with care and devotion, and that commitment remained one of the defining parts of his life.
Music lived in Brent. He was a professional singer and the co-founder of the Heartland Boys, whose love for singing was matched by the care he brought to it. He was a perfectionist, especially when it came to music, and he carried that dedication into his work and performances. Among the accomplishments he held with pride was singing at the Grand Old Opry twice, a milestone that reflected both his talent and his devotion to the music he cherished.
Brent was also known for the many qualities that made him so memorable to those around him. He was humble and quietly passionate, with an incredible sense of humor and a spirit that was always up for an adventure. He was very educated and very well spoken, and he brought warmth and wit into conversations and gatherings alike. He loved trivia and was exceptionally good at it. He was also great with sports and entertainment statistics, something that made him a kind of sports savant to those who knew him.
His love of sports was another joyful part of his life. Brent faithfully followed both K-State Football and KU basketball, though when the two teams met, he would always root for K-State. That enthusiasm, along with his remarkable knowledge of the games and players he followed, brought him much enjoyment and gave others another way to share in his interests.
Those who loved Brent will also smile at the memory of his first singing solo, when he ran off the stage after forgetting the words. It was a moment that became part of the story of his life, remembered with affection alongside the many achievements that followed.
He is survived by his mother; partner Rebecca Schmoe; son, Trevor Fredricks (Bethany Golden); daughter Caressa Kinsey (Vince); step-sons Jakob Schmoe, Jaymes Schmoe, and Coby Schmoe; step-daughter Allie Schroader (Ryan); eight grandchildren; brothers Jerrod Fredricks and Steve Fredricks; and sister Kerry Mendell (Richard) along with ten nieces and nephews.
Brent was preceded in death by his father and brother Dwight Fredricks.
May all who loved Brent find comfort in the memories of his faith, his music, his laughter, and the love he gave so freely to his family.
