Barry Lee Watts, a dedicated self-employed landscaper and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, at his home in Centropolis, Kansas. Born on May 26, 1954, in Lincoln, Nebraska, Barry was the beloved son of Norman and Adeline (Myers) Watts.
Barry’s life was driven by his love for working with his hands and his love for nature. As a self-employed landscaper, he mowed for many residents and businesses in Franklin County. Barry loved growing a garden, but gave more away than he ever ate for himself. Barry loved old cars and trucks and it shows in his hobby of building his 1922 Speedster. He was a down-to-earth, laid back, good ol boy, who never met a stranger. A man with the best sense of humor with his own talent of wit.
Family was everything to Barry. He cherished his wife, Linda (Marconette) Watts, with whom he shared thirty years of marriage. Barry was a stepdad to Ben Gibler since he was nine. Ben gave Barry and Linda three granddaughters, Kansas, Abby, and Lucy. Barry was always close to his surviving mother, Adeline and his two sisters, Cindy and Oleta. Barry loved his nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, and many cousins.
Barry loved trips to Branson and visiting swap meets to get just the needed parts for his speedster and loved baseball games rooting for the T-Bones. BBQ is always top of the list.
He will be missed more than word can express. He was preceded in death by his dad Norman Lee Watts. Survivors include his mom; wife Linda; stepson Ben; granddaughters Abby, Kansas, and Lucy; sisters Cindy Walkup (Dennis) and Oleta Dennison (Jim); along with beloved nieces and nephews.
Cremation is planned with a celebration of life to be held at Celebration Hall on June 13, 2026.
