Anne Kerstin Roberts, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away on October 23, 2025, at Presbyterian Manor of Lawrence in Lawrence, Kansas. She was born on January 26, 1939 in Orange, New Jersey, to Chester and Theodora (Cowen) Peterson.
Kerstin pursued her education with distinction graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington, D.C. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Michigan, demonstrating her passion for helping others. Following her educational journey, Kerstin enjoyed a fulfilling career as a registered nurse at Ransom Memorial Hospital, where she served diligently until her retirement in November 1999.
On April 14, 1962, Kerstin was united in marriage to Henry Roberts at the Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C. Together they built a life filled with love and dedication to family and community. Kerstin was a proud member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Ottawa, Kansas and the First Presbyterian Church in Lawrence, Kansas. Her musical talents shone brightly as she participated in the church choir and directed the handbell choir at Westminster.
In her free time, Kerstin cherished reading, teaching Sunday School and cultivating a love for learning in her students. She also enjoyed participating in women’s bible study and shared her love for travel with Henry, enjoying twenty-two years of RV adventures together.
Kerstin’s pride and joy were her family. She is survived by her husband Henry Roberts; children Alvin Roberts (Georgianne) and Jennifer Richard (Matthew); grandchildren Jenna Harbison (Kiel), Kevin Richard, Austin Richard (Molly), Madison Craig (Riley), Jack Richard (Breleigh), Christian Roberts (Maddie), Jonathan Roberts (Lainey), Timothy Roberts (Christina), and Riley Roberts; great-grandchildren Alivia, Lane, Connor, Ripley, Lylah, Lottie, Swayzie, Stanton, Seyti, and Dutton. Kerstin is also survived by her sister Karin Messina (Jim); her sisters-in-law Charlotte Roberts and Susan Roberts; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and her son Keith David Roberts; father-in-law H.A. Roberts, mother-in-law Dell Roberts; and brother-in-law Cooper Roberts whose memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved them.
Kerstin will be lovingly remembered for her compassion, dedication to her faith, and the profound impact she made on the lives of her family and friends. Her legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Memorial Services will be held 10am, Friday, October 31, 2025 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Ottawa, Kansas. Family will greet friends 9am prior to services at the church. Memorial Services will be live streamed to Presbyterian Manor Chapel.
