RESIDENCE HISTORY: Bud was a longtime resident of Franklin County. He moved to Franklin County from Menlo, Kansas in the 1930`s. He also lived in California in 1958. EDUCATION: He graduated from Appanoose High School with the class of 1937. OCCUPATION & BUSINESS: Bud owned and operated a dairy farm. He moved to California in 1958, where he worked in a steel mill. He returned to the Ottawa area and milked cows for Charlie Hamilton; on a turkey farm for Jean Ingersoll; for Franklin County driving a dump truck and maintainer; as a custodian for Brookside Manor Nursing Home in Overbrook, Kansas for two years; and, for USD 497 in Lawrence as custodian for fifteen years, retiring in 1993. MMEMBERSHIPS: Bud was a member of the Appanoose Baptist Church. MARRIAGE: On May 19, 1946, Bud was united in marriage with Lois Joy Barkley at Olathe, Kansas. She survives of their home. SERVICES: Memorial services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2003. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Bob Miller VISITATION: Mr. Houston was cremated. The family will meet with friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Dengel & Son Mortuary. CEMETERY: Dean Cemetery in Franklin County. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to the Appanoose Baptist Church, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
