Victor C. Brandon

Victor C. Brandon, Sr., was born March 9, 1927, at Elmo, in Dickinson County, Kansas. He was the son of Frank and Anne (Davenport) Brandon and raised in Franklin County, Kansas. From 1957 to 1960, he and his wife, Vicki, lived in Ottawa, Kansas. From 1960 to 1963, he and his family lived on the west coast, in California, Oregon, and Washington. In 1964, they moved to Kansas City, Kansas, and Overbrook, Kansas in 1984, where he made his home until his death Thursday, May 5, 2005, at the age of seventy-eight years. He worked as an electrical lineman. He was with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for over fifty years, retiring in July of 1984. He served in the United States Army Air Force from December 15, 1945, to January 2, 1947, during World War II, serving as a special vehicle operator 932. He earned decorations and citations including Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Lapel Button, and one Overseas Service Bar. Mr. Brandon was a member of Full Faith Church of Love in Shawnee, Kansas, and Local Union No. 53, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Victor enjoyed the outdoors and walking. He liked to take pictures and was quite an expert with his digital camera. He was also quite knowledgeable about computers and enjoyed researching genealogy. Victor's family was of greatest importance to him.; however, he also loved his pets, especially his dog, Bo Bo. On June 22, 1957, Victor was united in marriage with Vicki A. Farley at Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on November 17, 2001. He is also preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters. Mr. Brandon is survived by four sons, Victor Brandon, Jr. of Overbrook, Steve Brandon of Wichita, Ray Brandon of Kansas City, Calvin L. Larkin of Olathe; brother, Paul Brandon of Shawnee; eight grandchildren, JoAnn Woods, Mandi Scott, Joshua Brandon, Daniel Brandon, Jeanie Henderson, Robert Henderson, Stacy Brandon, Stephen Brandon; and five great-grandchildren, Hunter Scott, Raven Scott, Katelyn Woods, Alison Schmidt, and Kodiak Scott. SERVICES: Graveside services will be held at Twin Mound Cemetery in Douglas County at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2005. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Andy Bondurant. CEMETERY: Twin Mound Cemetery, Overbrook, Douglas County, Kansas.
