Tony N. Barton, age 56, of rural Miami County, LaCygne, Kansas, formerly of Paola, died November 12, 2017 at the Baptist Medical Center, Jacksonville, Florida. Tony was born April 8, 1961 at Russell, Kansas. He was the younger of two children born to Max and Betty (Elmore) Barton. The family moved to Kansas City in 1962. In 1971, they moved to Paola where Tony went to Middle School. He graduated with the Class of 1979 at Paola High School. Tony and Lisa Fri were united in marriage on November 17, 1979 at the First Baptist Church in Paola. They made their home in Paola and became the parents of two sons. Tony worked for the City of Paola while in high school. He then worked at Estes Metal Craft in Osawatomie from 1977 until 1982. In September of 1982, he was employed by Don’s Body Shop in Olathe. He and Lisa bought the body shop in October of 1992 and sold it in October of 2011. He inherited his love of music from his father. He played the acoustic guitar. He loved Blues and Classic Rock music. He volunteered on the hospitality committee for the Paola Roots Festival for many years. He met and became friends with many famous artists. He would frequently visit the Neosho River cabin which had been in the Barton family for 75 years. Other hobbies included four wheeling, classic cars, and traveling. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and water skiing. Tony also enjoyed being on the beach where he went shelling, walking, and bicycling. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law Basil Fri and his paternal and maternal grandparents. He is survived by his wife Lisa of the home; sons Tony Mitchell (Megan) of Olathe and Jason of the home; three grandchildren Zane Taylor Barton, Abram Max Kingsley Barton, and Marlowe Mae Harmony Barton; his parents Max and Betty (Elmore) Barton of Paola; his sister Mitzi (Wes) Hutcherson of Casa Grande, Arizona; his mother-in-law Doris Fri of Paola; sister-in-law Debby (Gary) Davenport of Dallas, Georgia; brother-in-law Dan (Mison) Fri of Fairfax, Virginia; nephews Jeremy and Matthew Davenport; nieces Danica (Keith) Goff and Miranda (Slavko) Pavlovic; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 20, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, Paola, Kansas. Burial will be in the Osawatomie Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jamie Riggs, Dakota Oliver, Aaron Chambers, Grant Sunday, Matthew Davenport, and Dan Mathia. Family and friends will gather at the Paola VFW following the services.
