Ruby M. Lucero, 79, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away at her home on Friday, March 20, 2020. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, March 23, 2020, at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Ruby was born May 3, 1940 in Haleyville, Alabama, the daughter of Arthur and Savannah (Horton) Ergle. She lived in Grants, New Mexico moving in 1984 to Ottawa, Kansas. Ruby was united in marriage to Eloy Lucero June 22, 1978 in Ely, Nevada. She was employed for Parmalee Industries in Ottawa as an assembler from 1990 to 1994 and Holiday Inn Express in housekeeping from the late 1990’s to the early 2000’s. Ruby enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading and above all, spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Eloy Lucero; parents and thirteen brothers and sisters. Survivors include six children, Dyanna Napier of Vassar, Kansas, Beverly Davis and husband Charles of Ottawa, Kansas, Randy Brown and wife Joan of Decaturville, Tennessee, Sherri Yarbro of Vassar, Kansas, Shawne Howell of Vanduser, Missouri, and Natasha Smith and fiancé David Smith of Emporia, Kansas; two sisters, Edith Grainger of Sikeston, Missouri and Juanita Ergle of Matthews, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Ruby Lucero Memorial Fund c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
