Ruby E. Woods, age 92, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Saturday, November 19, 2011. She was born on Wednesday, September 10, 1919, in Centropolis, Kansas, the daughter of Cyrus and Stella (Bales) Barnhart. She was a lifelong resident of the Pomona and Ottawa area. Ruby attended Columbia and Dean Grade School, graduating from Appanoose High School with the class of 1936. She was an interior decorator for thirty years. In the 1940’s, she worked for Bruce Manufacturing in Ottawa as a seamstress and, during World War II, she worked for Burkes Awning making Army tents. She attended Pilgrim Bible Church in Ottawa; was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901 Auxiliary; and served on the Ottawa Township Election Board forty years. On Saturday, October 23, 1937, Ruby was united in marriage with Roy A. Woods in Garnett, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 17, 2002. She is survived by her: Son-Rex Woods of Ottawa, Kansas Son-Rocky L. Woods of Ottawa, Kansas Son-Ricky D. Woods and his wife, Diana, of Ottawa, Kansas Daughter-Rose Marie “Rea” Baxter of Delta, Colorado Foster Son-Dr. Richard Farris of Ruidoso, New Mexico Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her: Husband-Roy A. Woods Brother-Dewey Barnhart Brother-Vernie Barnhart Sister-Ruth Patton One Great-Granddaughter SERVICES: Graveside Services will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Centropolis, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2011. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Woods after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Dengel & Son Mortuary, where the family will meet with friends 7:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening.
