Roy D. Crawford, 88, of Overbrook, Kansas died on Friday, November 21, 2008, at his home with family and friends at his side. He was born on Wednesday, May 26, 1920, in Centropolis, Kansas.He was the son of Samuel and Effie (Harshman) Crawford. He was a lifelong Douglas County, Kansas resident. Roy graduated from Appanoose High School with the class of 1939. He was a lifelong farmer and dairyman. He also worked in the maintenance department of Baker University from 1967 to 1972 and was head of maintenance of U.S.D. # 348 at the Baldwin High School from 1972 to 1983. He was a member of Centropolis Christian Church, serving as a board member and deacon. On August 15, 1942, Roy was united in marriage with Helen Rhine in Ottawa, Kansas. She survives of their home. Survivors include: Wife-Helen Crawford of the home Daughter-Dee Ann Shuck of Ottawa, Kan. Daughter-Claudia Terrell of Lawrence, Kan. Daughter-Nancy Sanders & her husband, Tom, of Overbrook, Kan. Daughter-Lois Ardahl & her husband, Jay, of Overbrook, Kan. Grandchildren-Eight Gt. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Crawford from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening at Centropolis Christian Church. CEMETERY: Union Cemetery, Centropolis.
