Rose Marie Slaughter

May 24, 1922 — February 27, 2005

Rose Marie Slaughter was born May 24, 1922, at Vian, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of John and Viola (Mills) Anderson. She resided in Texas for several years, returning to Vian, Oklahoma, in 1977. In 1996, Marie moved to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, where she made her home, until her death Sunday, February 27, 2005, at the age of eighty-two years. She has been a homemaker, since her marriage in 1940. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post #4609 of Webbers Falls, Oklahoma. She was an excellent seamstress and also liked to crochet. She enjoyed playing Bingo and gambling, and loved going to garage sales. Marie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who greatly enjoyed caring for her family. On September 26, 1940, Marie was united in marriage with Kelly W. Slaughter at Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1996. Mrs. Slaughter is also preceded in death by her parents, John Anderson and Viola Anderson-Andrews; sister, Ruby Madorin; four brothers, Maurice Anderson, Jack Anderson, Dan Andrews, Buddy Andrews; and, grandson, Craig Buck. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia A. Slankard, of Ottawa, Kansas, Linda K. Moody of Williamsburg, Kansas; six brothers, Allen Andrews and his wife, June, of Vian, Oklahoma, David Andrews and his wife, Deloris, of Tulare, California, Sam Andrews of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Franklin Andrews and his wife, Sandy, of Harrisonville, Missouri, Bill Andrews and his wife, Shirley, of Scheitz, Texas, Alec Andrews and his wife, Barbara, of Vian, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; and, eleven great-grandchildren. SERVICES: Graveside inurnment services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, 1423 Cemetery Road, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. IN STATE: Mrs. Slaughter`s body has been cremated. The family will meet with friends at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2005. CEMETERY: Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
