Michael James Hartshorn, Sr. was born on Tuesday, July 16, 1968, in Wichita, Kansas. He was the son of Sidney James 'Jim' and Helen (Olson) Hartshorn. Mike grew up in Wichita. He, his wife, Jill, and his children, Michael and Rachel, previously lived in Wichita, Leon, El Dorado and Latham in Kansas. After his divorce, Mike lived in Latham, Kansas, until his death on Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at the age of thirty-eight years. Mike attended schools in Wichita with the class of 1987. Because he loved being outside, he worked in commercial construction as a steel rigger in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas. He attended the New Life Church. Mike's favorite pastime was riding his Harley. He enjoyed grilling with his own special recipes, using fruit with everything. Mike enjoyed hanging out with the family on special occasions or with his buddies, and caring for his bird, a cockatiel named 'Stupider'. On April 11, 1986, Mike was united in marriage with Jill Albright. They were later divorced. Mike is survived by his parents of Wichita, Kansas; son, Michael James 'Mike' Hartshorn, Jr. of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two daughters, Rachel Dawn Franks and her husband, Thunder, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Rosanna Rena Gonzalez of Wichita, Kansas; 'sister'-cousin, Debbie Phillips of Augusta, Kansas; 'nephew'-cousin, Cody Phillips, 'nephew'-cousin, Casey Phillips, 'niece'-cousin, Courtney Phillips, 'niece'-cousin, Carley Phillips; granddaughter, Jordyn Rena Gonzalez of Wichita, Kansas; grandson, Tyler Jos' Gonzalez of Wichita, Kansas; an unborn grandchild; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Enor and Beulah Olson; aunt, Evelyn Wharton; cousin, Shelley Harrington; his paternal grandparents; and several other aunts and cousins. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2007. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Scott Dickinson with Rev. Warren Lee Olson IN STATE: Mike will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 5:00 - 9:00 P.M. Friday. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.
