Loy Dean Knight

Loy Dean Knight, age 70, of Princeton, Kan., died Wednesday, September 22, 2004. He was the son of the late Seth Knight and the late Rubie (Guffey) Knight. He is also survived by his wife Clarice Belle (Oswald) Knight; Four Daughters, Daughter-Debra Kay Stephenson of Scranton, Kan. Daughter-Nancy Ann Woolery of Princeton, Kan. Daughter-Cynthia Mae Medlen of Rantoul, Kan. Daughter-Donna Lou Mathena-Menke of Independence, Mo. One Sister, Sister-Marcia Kay Knight of Indianapolis, Ind. One Brother, Brother-Robert Eugene Knight of Princeton, Kan. He was a lifelong Franklin County, Kansas resident. He graduated from Princeton High School with the class of 1953. Following his military career, Loy Dean was a propane/gas delivery driver for Bob's Mobile & Propane, also known as Knight Oil Company, from 1974 to 1992. He also worked for Duke Manufacturing in Ottawa for three years. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954 and retired in 1974 as a Technical Sgt. after twenty years of service in his field as a medical service technician for air rescue and air evacuation. He served one tour of duty in Thailand and Vietnam and was in twenty-one countries. He was a member of Princeton United Methodist Church and the P.Q.S. Coffee Bunch. He was also a member of Night Crawlers Camping Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901 of Ottawa, and Vietnam Veterans Association #912. On June 27, 1954, Loy Dean was united in marriage with Clarice Belle Oswald at the Princeton United Methodist Church. She survives of their home. They celebrated their 50th anniversary this year. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 27, 2004. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Ira DeSpain and Rev. Georgia Hale. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Knight at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 Sunday evening. CEMETERY: Princeton Cemetery, with Military Services by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Princeton United Methodist Church or Vietnam Veterans Association #912, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
