Lillie Mae Thomas Beasley, 77, of Ottawa, Kan., died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at her residence in Ottawa, Kan. The daughter of Walter and Gertrude Thomas, she was born Saturday, June 6, 1931, in North Little Rock, Ark. She was the oldest of eight children. One brother, William T. Thomas Sr., preceded her in death. Lillie accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at an early age at St. Luke’s Baptist Church by the late Rev. Cap Petteway. She attended Pulaski County Training School in North Little Rock, Ark. Lillie married General Jones who preceded her in death. One daughter was born to this union. Lillie later married LeRoy Beasley Sr., who also preceded her in death. To this union, three children were born. One son, Kenneth Beasley, preceded her in death. Lillie worked as a caterer specializing in ice sculptures and she was a caregiver for the elderly. She enjoyed making ceramics, fishing, baking and preparing special meals. She leaves to cherish, one son, LeRoy Beasley, and his wife, Ethal, of Ottawa, Kan.; two daughters, Vernell Sledge, and her husband, Abraham, of Oakland, Calif., and Venita Beasley Hatch, of Kansas City, Mo.; five sisters, Geneva Thomas, Springdale, Ark., Walstein Walker, and her husband, R.B., of Los Angeles, Calif., Rose Batiste, of Los Angeles, Calif., Aquilla Perkins and Annette Lowmack, both of Jacksonville, Ark.; brother, Nathaniel Thomas, of Jacksonville, Ark.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friend. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008 at the Dengel & Son Mortuary. Mrs. Beasley was cremated. The family will meet with friends at 10 a.m. to the service hour on Saturday at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Memorial graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery, 3223 N. 18th St., Kansas City, Kan.
