Leah Nadine Cawby, age 90, formerly of Paola, Fontana and Louisburg, KS., passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the Life Care Center, Osawatomie,KS. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel, burial to follow in the Fontana Cemetery, Fontana, KS. Friends may call 9:00 " 11:00 a.m. Tuesday prior to service time at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Elm Grove Baptist church. Leah Nadine Cawby was born February 11, 1920, in Akron, CO. the daughter of Everett Weaver and Emma Mast. Leah was united in marriage to John Monroe Cawby on May 17, 1942 in Paola, KS. Together, they were blessed with seven children. John preceded her in death on July 26, 2005. Leah and John lived in Fontana until 1969 and then they moved to Louisburg, KS and later moved to Paola. She was a very active member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church in Chiles. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, infant twin daughters: Susan Kay and Sally May, sisters: Eva Fort, Juanita Whitney and Lucille Hatfield. Survivors include four sons: John and wife Joanne of Mound City, KS; Dick and wife Linda of Lees Summit, MO; Chuck and wife Donita of Garden City, KS, Jim and wife Vicki of Merritt Island, FL; daughter, Mary Anderson and husband Mike of Sumter, SC; sisters: Helen Wood of Overland Park, KS and Elsie Wells Stephens of Dighton, KS. 9 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her deeply.
