Lauren Y. Gaddis, 84, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Ransom Memorial Hospital. Cremation is planned with memorial services to be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, August 18, 2014, at Princeton United Methodist Church. Private family inurnment Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Kansas. Lauren was born Saturday, July 19, 1930, in Ottawa, the son of Lauren Otis and Sunshine (Young) Gaddis. He considered himself to be a lifelong Ottawa resident. He graduated from Princeton High School with the class of 1948 and continued his education at Ottawa University graduating with a bachelor of science degree in education; and Emporia State University with a master's degree. Lauren married Evelyn June Bones June 14, 1953, at Princeton. She survives of the home after sixty-one years of marriage. Other survivors include his four children, Mark Gaddis and wife Brandy of Andover, Michael Gaddis and wife Kayleen of Claflin, Marlon Gaddis of Hays, and Meleah Schrepel and husband Mark of Goddard; two brothers, John Gaddis of Overland Park, and DeLoss Gaddis of Ottawa; sister, Elaine Oakleaf and husband John of Effingham; ten grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Lauren worked most of his life as a school administrator, retiring in 1984. He served in Bazine, Appanoose and Sedgwick school districts. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. The family suggests memorial contributions to Princeton United Methodist Church c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
