Jerry "Dale" Holt, age 84, of Stilwell, Kansas, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, July 9th at Healthcare Resort of Topeka. Dale was born on August 2, 1936, in Liberal, Kansas and grew up near Lone Elm, Kansas. He was the youngest of five children born to Lee Roy and Winifred Hazel (Black) Holt. Dale graduated from Welda High School in 1954. Dale and Juliann “Julie” Foltz of Garnett, Kansas were united in marriage on June 9th, 1956. Together they raised eight children. As a husband, father, and community leader he was involved in many activities and organizations including youth sports, Scouting, Optimist International, Knights of Columbus, Blue Valley (USD# 229) School Board, and his beloved Queen of the Holy Rosary parish. Dale started working for United Telephone Company in Garnett in 1954 and as his career progressed, he relocated his growing family to several midwestern communities including Oswego, KS, Buckner, MO, Rolla, MO, and Clinton MO before finally settling in Stillwell in 1972. He retired from Sprint in 2001. Dale was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Paul Holt, Earl Holt, Jack Holt and June Fincher as well as two of his children Wade Holt and Terri Dean-Creason (Chris). He is survived by his wife, Julie and six children: Chris (Debi) Holt of Manhattan, IL, Steve (Lorie) Holt of Bucyrus, KS, Marci (Steve) Unruh of Tucson, AZ, Gina (Jerry) Tenbrink of Olathe, KS, Dala Winders of Tucson, AZ, and Angela (Shawn) Gamber of Topeka, KS. Dale dearly loved his 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Queen of the Holy Rosary (QHR) Church at 22779 Metcalf Ave, Bucyrus, KS. The family will greet friends from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, on Friday, July 16th at QHR followed by rosary at 10:30 a.m. and a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the QHR Cemetery.
