James “Jim” Edwin Cook, 80, of Paola, passed away on May 7, 2024, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., with funeral services on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., both at the Paola Chapel. Burial will take place following the funeral at Paola Cemetery.
He was the second of nine children born to John and Dorothy (Mitts) Cook on August 17, 1943, in La Cygne, KS.
Jim graduated from Paola High School in 1961.
He was a Machinist for Honeywell Int. for 38 years retiring in 2005.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and enjoyed attending Lighthouse Church in Paola.
Jim enjoyed helping and visiting with friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed Sunday lunches with his daughter, trips to the casino and helping his brother John on his farm. Jim loved his grandsons dearly and loved attending their sporting events and school activities. He also enjoyed watching the KC Chiefs and KU basketball games. But, more than anything, he loved spending time with his family especially his grandsons.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Shannon Roseberry, (John), and son, James Shawn Cook; grandchildren Mason, Holden and Dalton Roseberry and Michael and Kelsey Cook; and one great grandson; brothers, John Cook, Jr., Larry Cook, and Charles Cook and sisters, Carol Mignot, Donna Locke, Connie Ward, and Vicky Carson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leonard Cook.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lighthouse Presbyterian Church, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary-Paola Chapel 305 N. Pearl St. Paola, KS 66071.
