Ida L. Darby, age 71 of Paola, passed away at the Olathe Medical Center Sunday, March 14. She was born on Nov. 20, 1938 in Junction City, Kansas to Charles Edward and Thelma Leona Bogart Day. She grew up in Junction City and on July 24, 1955 she was united in marriage to Donald Darby in Junction City. To this union five children were born. Ida worked as a director of food service for local nursing homes before retiring in 1981. She enjoyed traveling with family in their RV, fishing, was an avid camper, family gatherings, especially during the holiday season, enjoyed cooking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Charles K. Day; and an infant sister, Kalyn Joy. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Survivors are her husband Don of the home; son, Michael Darby; son, Greg Darby; daughter, Debbie Woolard; son, Curtis Darby; all of Paola; and daughter, Terese Darby of Parsons; 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and four sisters; Bonnie Bix of New Market, Iowa; Sharon Titus of Creston, Iowa; Jeanie Yoho of Kempner, Texas; and Diana Monroe of Reno, Nevada.
