Frances Jean Pippenger

Frances Jean Pippenger was born on Wednesday, May 26, 1920, in Overbrook, Kansas. She was the daughter of Lloyd Waldo and Ruth Annie (Tregemba) Moody. Frances grew up in the Overbrook area and later lived in Franklin County until moving to Baldwin City in 1970. In 2004 she moved to Clay Center, Kansas, where she made her home, until her death on Wednesday, February 15, 2006, at the age of eighty-five years. She graduated from Baldwin High School with the Class of 1938. Frances worked at the switchboard at Baker University in Baldwin from 1971 until her retirement. She was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church in Franklin County. Frances was a wonderful person to know. Her family was very dear to her, especially her husband of whom she loved dearly. One event she always looked forward to was traveling with the kids. She also spent many hours tending to her flowers and garden. On August 30, 1939, Frances was united in marriage with Clarence B. Pippenger at Tauy Church in Franklin County. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1995. Frances is also preceded in death by one son, Lyle Pippenger; two brothers, Lloyd Moody and Harry Moody; and three sisters, Ruth Ann Kaub, Joy Chrisite, and Avis Blakeman. She is survived by four sons, Milton Pippenger and his wife, Maribeth, of Manhattan, Kansas, Bill Pippenger and his wife, Linda, of Tucson, Arizona, Dan and his wife, Judy, of Riverside, California, Rex and his wife, Kathy, of Clay Center, Kansas; two sisters, Alice Cox of Buhle, ID, Ethel McGinty of Randolph , Kansas; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2006. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Pippenger at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Saturday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Monday evening. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to American Heart Association, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
