Evelyn June (Bones) Gaddis, 91, passed away Friday, September 1, 2023, in Wichita, Kansas. She was born May 3, 1932, in Princeton, Kansas to Dale and Hazel Bones. Evelyn was a 1950 graduate of Princeton High School and a 1954 graduate of Kansas State University in home economics. On June 14, 1953, Evelyn married Lauren Y. Gaddis of Ottawa.
She taught high school English, home economics, and library in various districts including Sedgwick and Bazine. Evelyn enjoyed cooking, baking, ceramics, flower arranging, cake decorating, and family.
Evelyn is survived by her children Mark (Brandy) of Wichita, Mike (Kayleen) of Claflin, Marlon of Fort Worth, Texas, and Meleah (Mark) Schrepel of Goddard; grandchildren Alisha Tope of Shawnee, Skyler (Amanda) Gaddis, Zachery Gaddis of Great Bend, Kylee, Kaleb, and Kenadee Gaddis of Wichita, Quintin Gaddis of Ellsworth, Miranda (Alex) Stillwell of Burrton, Alexus Bishop of Salina, Maverik Bishop of Seattle, Washington; and great-grandchildren Diego, Isabella, Madison, Marlee, Camryn, Blakelyn, and Scarlett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Dale Gene Bones, and sister Lois Frank.
The funeral will be at Dengel & Son Mortuary on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 11:00 am. Family will greet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to services.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Princeton Methodist Church, Shriners’ Children’s Hospital, or Christ Pilot Me Hill c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
