Dr. Virgil E. Mills, 69, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Olathe Medical Center. Family will meet with friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 18, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 19, 2015, at Community Revival Center Church, 2749 Montana Road, Ottawa. Private family burial will be held at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Virgil was born Monday, August 27, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Russell Earnest and Mildred Bernice (Saunders) Mills. They preceded him in death. He was a lifelong Kansas resident. He graduated from De Soto High School with the class of 1963 and later obtained his Bachelors, Masters and PhD from Kingsway University and Theological Seminary in Iowa. Virgil was united in marriage with Linda Mae Frey February 23, 1964, in Pomona, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his three children, Teresa Slankard and husband Daniel of Linwood, Russell Mills and wife Amy of Camdenton, Missouri, and Scott Mills of Olathe; siblings, Ruth Ann Hutchins and husband Eugene of Muncie, Jerry Mills and wife Vicki of Ottawa, Bob Mills and wife Lynn of Platt City, Missouri, Carol Roebuck of Kansas City, Kansas, and David Mills of Osawatomie; eleven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Virgil was a semi-retired minister. He was the Pastor of Community Baptist Church in Eudora and Shawnee Full Gospel Church in Shawnee, Kansas. He was the first Associate Pastor of Community Revival Center Church in Ottawa. He taught at Heart of America Bible College & Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. Other occupations include meat cutter, realtor and transportation officer. He was a member and currently attended Community Revival Center Church in Ottawa. Virgil is lovingly remembered as a loyal husband, father, grandfather, brother, neighbor and friend. Along with attending church and his deep love for the Lord, he also enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and was known for “Grandpa’s famous fudge”. He will be deeply missed and remain in the hearts and thoughts of his family and friends forever.
