Clifford F. Hettler, 93, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016, at Richmond Healthcare & Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 22, 2016, at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa, Kansas. Family will meet with friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Thursday, July 21, 2016, at the mortuary. Interment Lane Cemetery, Lane, Kansas. Clifford was born Wednesday, November 8, 1922, in Rantoul, Kansas, the son of William and Frances (Kennedy) Hettler. He lived in Lane, Kansas, from 1951 until moving to Ottawa in 1962. He graduated from Lane High School with the class of 1942. Clifford was united in marriage with June Brownlee March 23, 1946 in Ottawa. She survives of their home after 70 years of marriage. Other survivors include his daughter, Cathy Brown and husband Steve of Ottawa; son, Ed Hettler and wife Patricia of Monument, Colorado; sister, LaVon Hettler of Ottawa; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Frances Hettler; daughter, Glenna Davis; brothers, William Hettler, Jr. and Wayne Hettler and grandson, Kenny Weatherbie. Clifford was a maintenance supervisor working at Ransom Memorial Hospital from 1960 to 1975 and Franklin County Courthouse from 1975 until retiring in 1992. When he was younger, he farmed in the Rantoul area and worked for Minnick Motors of Ottawa. He was a member of the Ottawa Aerie Lodge 2700 Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Men’s Bowling Association. Clifford enjoyed fishing, woodworking and above all, spending time with his family. Cliff and June spent 14 years after retirement in Mission, Texas, as “Winter Texans”. Cliff also enjoyed going to Branson to trout fish with family and friends.
