Betty Louise Burgoon, 96, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Rock Creek of Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 P.M., Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa. Betty was born September 16, 1925, at Overland Park, Kansas, the daughter of Orville O. and Helen (Striplin) Lucas. She was a near lifelong resident of Ottawa. She attended Ottawa schools. Betty married Loyd Keefer. They later divorced. On August 16, 1944, she was united in marriage to Wesley H. Burgoon at Olathe, Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Helen Lucas, brother Max Lucas and sister Barbara March. Survivors include her son, Ronald Keefer (Rose) of Winfield, Kansas; daughter, Judy Green of Branson, Missouri; six grandchildren, Rhonda Chappell (Derek), Lisa Wingate (Bill), Jennifer Mark (Joe), Daryl Keefer, Mark Keefer, and Kimberly Green; four step grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, Kyle and Tyler Smith, Abigail Chappell, Grace Chappell, Clark Wingate, Austin, Logan and Kirkland Keefer, Destiny Pillow, Tyler Green and Wesley Keefer, 5 step great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Betty worked at Woolworths and then fifteen years at Plattner Industries, retiring in 1982. She enjoyed making crafts and traveling.
