Alfred Kenneth Hoppy Hopkins, age 80, of Pomona, Kansas, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, Kansas. He was born on Tuesday, March 12, 1929, in Ottawa. He was the son of Frank Hopkins and Edna (Sink) Hopkins-Reimer. He was a lifelong Franklin County, Kansas resident. Alfred attended Ottawa High School. He was an assistant manager for Litwin’s of Ottawa, where he was employed twenty years; owned “The Spot” in Ottawa from 1972 to 1974; worked as a supervisor for Hercules Ammunition Plant in DeSoto twenty-five years, 1977 to 1992; was a rural milk hauler; and farmed since 1988. He was a member of Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles of Ottawa over fifty-five years. On Tuesday, March 12, 1946, Alfred was united in marriage with Mary Lou Williams in Garnett, Kansas. She survives of their home. He is survived by his: Wife-Mary Lou Hopkins of the home; Daughter-Delores Marie Edwards, RN, of Ottawa, Kansas; Son-Kenneth Leon Hopkins of Ottawa, Kansas; Nine Grandchildren-Ray Allen Ott, Michael Tad Ott, Kenneth Alfred Hopkins, Jenny Lyn Jensen, John Alwood Edwards, Timothy James Edwards, Connie Teter, Gina Henricks, Janice Henricks; Eleven Great-Grandchildren-Greg, Raymond, Hillary, Kendell, Christopher, Cody, Jeff, Jeremy, Michael, Alexander, Carson; Three great-great-grandchildren-McKenzie, Jayden, Lillian. He is preceded in death by his: Parents-Frank Hopkins and Edna (Sink) Hopkins-Reimer. Two Sisters-Florence Lee, Isabell Woods. Four Brothers-Frank Hopkins, Jr., Henry McKinley, Bill McKinley, Wilson Hopkins. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2010. IN STATE: Mr. Hopkins will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Friday, where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 7:00 Friday evening. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901; Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles; or American Heart Association, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
