James A. Bien

James A. Bien, age 58 of Ottawa, Kansas, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Olathe Medical Center. He was born on Sunday, September 19, 1954, in Ottawa, the son of Leroy and Jeanette (Slaby) Bien.

James was a lifelong Ottawa resident.

He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1972.

On May 21, 1982 James was united in marriage with Nancy Rutledge in Ottawa, Kansas. She survives of the home.

James was a butcher for forty years. He was employed by Waymire’s Grocery in Ottawa and Olathe; Apple Market in Ottawa; and was currently working for Country Mart in Ottawa since the mid 1990’s

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus Council 3018 and 4th degree member of Assembly 3088, Paola; he was also a former member of the Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ottawa.

He is survived by his: Wife – Nancy Bien of the home Daughter – Chelsea Carey and her husband Nick of Ottawa Daughter – Sofie Bien of Ottawa Son – Camden Bien of the home Grandchildren – Landon and Macie Carey Brother – Tim Bien and his wife Rosemary of Pomona Brother – Aaron Bien and his wife Cindy of Olathe Brother – Charles Bien and his wife Frida of Sacramento, California Sister – Bonnie Coffman and her husband Carl of Wellsville

He is preceded in death by his: Parents – Leroy and Jeanette Bien Brother – Rick Bien

SERVICES: A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa, 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 25, 2013.

IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Bien at Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 P.M. Sunday, February 24, 2013. A Rosary will be said at 6:30 Sunday evening, followed by family and friends visitation from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.

CEMETERY: Cremation will follow services. Inurnment Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ottawa.
