Consumer Vault Information

It is our goal to offer the best quality, yet affordable vaults. We have found that Clark Vault t Company meets those needs.

Metal Vaults
--Are made from either copper, stainless steel or steel. These metals are known for their protective features. Copper is the most durable and beautiful of metals and is naturally non-rusting. Stainless and carbon steel caskets come in a variety of grades, gauges, styles and finishes. Manufactured and tested to be completely resistant to the entrance of air and water, metal vaults offer unequaled protection and beauty and are worthy of your trust.

What is a grave vault? -- A vault offers a peace of mind by protecting the casket against moisture and weight damage.

How does a Clark Grave Vault Protect? -- Envision a drinking glass inverted in water.  Air pressure inside the inverted glass will not allow the water level to rise more than a fraction of an inch.  Perhaps you have seen this effect in your kitchen sink. A Clark Grave Vault protects its contents using the same principle.  Its dome shaped design allows air pressure to build, keeping moisture out below casket level.

What about Clark Grave Vault Assurance of Quality? -- The straight forward warranty is one of the best in the industry and reflects the lasting protection of the the grave vault, often providing free replacement provisions.

Each and every Clark grave vault is is double welded inside and out this process add strength, rigidity and overall longevity.  Some vaults are galvanized in hot molten zinc, which more than doubles the life of the vault.

For quality control each vault is submerged in six feet of water and must pass the immersion test before leaving the factory.  This process assures that each and every vault is air tight against the entrance of water, offering the family additional peace of mind.

What about Clark Grave Vault Durability? -- A Clark Grave Vault will withstand the earth's load above it after 90% of the metal has been lost. The graph below shows how long Clark vaults will last in the ground after undergoing just a 50% metal loss.

Note: The Clark Metal Protection Index (MPI) allows consumers to to compare the amount of time the vault will protect its contents underground.  An increase of 1 in the MPI index is equal to 33 years of protection. For example, a vault with a MPI of 2 will protect for 66 years.

The photographs were taken during disinterment. The vaults were disinterred 33 and 55 years after burial and relocated to another cemetery.  The vaults are shown to be in excellent condition, doing their intended job of supporting the earth weight and keeping gravesite elements away from the casket.

To whom it may concern:

My firm has been engaged in the relocation of cemeteries for approximately three years. We have relocated some five thousand graves in this period of time.

We have, in this period of time, relocated some five hundred burial vaults; approximately seventy per cent of these were concrete, and thirty per cent were metal vaults. We have found all of the metal vaults, without exception, to be in a sound condition, and all metal vaults were easily moved. We have also found some thirty to forty percent of the concrete vaults to be broken or cracked, thus, making the relocation extremely difficult. The concrete vaults that we have been able to move intact were in a fragile condition due to the rotting of the concrete. The oldest metal vault that we have relocated was buried in 1912.

It is my judgement, based upon this experience, that metal vaults are for superior in quality to concrete vaults.
